Wenona Boarding House Design
To achieve a fun and interesting space with break out areas for the girls to relax, study, read or hang out with there friends, I extended the window space in the hallway and designed round window seating which would be large enough for girls to sit or lay inside. I also created custom joinery shelving around the circle seating paired up with eye catching wallpapers and textures for a more inviting and welcoming space.
Wenona Boarding House located in North Sydney provides accomodation for an all girls high school (Wenona Girls High school). This real life project consisted of redesigning and refurbishing the entry way, seating area, office, hallway and the girls dormitory rooms. The boarding house interior was tired looking and overcrowded and the client wished to update various areas and create a " teenage girl's heaven".
To solve the uninspiring bedrooms I chose to give the ceiling a sun roof which would allow plenty of light into a space that has only one fairly small window; this would create a lively bedroom full of sunlight where it is also ideal for looking up into the night sky. The teal and purple colours of the wallpaper along with it's vibrant patterns also adds interest to the room.
